	Mr. Henry Groppe, Groppe, Long & Littell Henry Groppe founded Groppe, Long & Littell in 1955, a Houston based energy consulting firm noted for its long range forecasts of oil and gas supply, demand and price. He has 61 years of experience in the oil, natural gas and petrochemical industries, including positions with Arabian American Oil Company, Dow Chemical, Monsanto and Texaco. He is a distinguished graduate of the University of Texas College of Engineering, is a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and has served as a charter member of the Texas Governor’s Energy Council and a director of the United States Energy Association (the U.S. member committee of the World Energy Council). 	Mr. Chris Skrebowski, Energy Institute, London Chris Skrebowski is the editor of the Petroleum Review since June 1997. This publication is a monthly magazine published by the Energy Institute in London. He is also a member of ODAC. Skrebowski is the author of the important Oilfields Megaprojects Report for the Petroleum Review.

	Charles Maxwell, Weeden & Co Charles T. Maxwell, a leading voice in the energy industry for the last 30 years, is a senior energy analyst for Weeden & Co. Charley entered the oil industry in 1957 and worked for a major international oil company for 12 years in US, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In 1968 he joined a well-known Wall Street firm as an oil analyst and was ranked by Institutional Investor as the No. 1 oil analyst in 1972,1974,1977, and 1981-1986. In addition, for the last 17 years Charley has been an active member of an Oxford-based organization comprised of OPEC and other industry executive from 30 countries who meet twice a year to discuss trends within the energy field.

	Roscoe G Bartlett, United States House of Representatives Now serving his eighth term in the United States House of Representatives, Roscoe G. Bartlett considers himself a citizen-legislator, not a politician. Prior to his election to Congress, he pursued successful careers as a professor, research scientist and inventor, small business owner, and farmer. 	Dr. Peter C Bishop, PH.D., University of Houston Dr. Peter Bishop is an Associate Professor of Strategic Foresight and Coordinator of the graduate program in Futures Studies at the University of Houston. Dr. Bishop specializes in techniques for long-term forecasting and planning. He delivers keynote addresses and conducts seminars on the future for business, government and not-for-profit organizations. He also facilitates groups in developing scenarios, visions and strategic plans for the future. 	Elizabeth A Jones, Railroad Commission of Texas A sixth generation Texan from San Antonio, Chairman Elizabeth Jones was elected three times to the Texas House of Representatives before her appointment in 2005 by Governor Rick Perry to the Texas Railroad Commission. In November 2006 she was elected to serve a six-year term. She currently serves as the Railroad Commission’s representative to the Coastal Coordination Council (CCC), the Coastal Land Advisory Board, and is a member of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC). Chairman Jones was appointed by the IOGCC to represent its interest in the Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America (RPSEA). 	Mr. David Hughes, Canadian Geologic Survey J. David Hughes is a geologist with more than 30 years experience studying the energy resources of Canada for the Geological Survey of Canada and the private sector. He is the Leader of the National Coal Inventory, which is a digital knowledge base on coal used to determine the availability of resources for conventional and non-conventional uses, including coalbed methane production and the sequestration of CO2. He is also Team Leader for Non-conventional Gas for the Canadian Gas Potential Committee. For the past several years, he has developed a keen interest in the "Big Picture", as it relates to the longer term prognosis for continuity of energy supplies and some of the political and environmental ramifications concerning their use. 	Stuart Staniford, TheOilDrum Stuart Staniford is a consultant (Invicta Consulting) who earned a PhD in Physics (UC Davis) with an MS in Computer Science (UC Davis). He spent most of the last decade doing research, design, and architecture in computer security, especially around the spread of computer worms and techniques for containing them. 	Mrs. Debbie Cook, City of Huntington Beach Debbie Cook has served seven years on the Huntington Beach, California City Council, serving as Mayor in 2002. She also serves on the Southern California Association of Government's Regional Council, where she chairs the Energy and Environment Committee, the County of Orange Harbors, Beaches and Parks Commission, Pacific Cable Television Authority, and League of California Cities Environmental Quality Policy Committee. She is currently serving as President for the Orange County Division of the League of California Cities. Debbie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth Science from Cal State Long Beach, a Jurisdoctorate from Western State College of Law, and a license to practice law in California. She is also a graduate of the Kennedy School of Government National Preparedness Leadership Initiative and Great Valley Leadershp Institute.

	Mr. Jeremy J Gilbert, Barrelmore Ltd Jeremy is the recently retired Chief Petroleum Engineer from British Petroleum (BP) where he was responsible for the company’s worldwide petroleum engineering performance and associated research and development program. He joined BP in 1964. Extended Biography

	Mrs. Mary Margaret Whipple, Virginia State Senate Senator Mary Margaret Whipple represents the 31st District in the Virginia State Senate. The 31st District includes Arlington County north of Columbia Pike, the City of Falls Church and eight precincts in Eastern Fairfax County. Now in her third term, Mrs. Whipple was first elected to the Senate of Virginia in November, 1995. She is a member of the Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources, the Education and Health, the Local Government, the Privileges and Elections, and the Rules Committees of the Senate. 	Mr. Keith J Behrens, Energy Capital Solutions, LP Mr. Behrens is a Principal and Managing Director of ECS. Mr. Behrens has over 15 years of investment banking experience with major investment banking firms including Bear Stearns and Wasserstein Perella. He has focused most of his career in covering primarily exploration and production companies as well as other energy-related companies. Mr. Behrens has worked extensively on a wide variety of transactions including 28 M&A transactions, 1 public equity transaction, 34 public and private debt transactions, 51 private placements, numerous bank financings and public equity transactions and various strategic advisory assignments. 	Joseph G Gladbach, Jefferies Randall & Dewey Joseph “Joe” Gladbach is a Managing Director at Jefferies Randall & Dewey, the Oil & Gas Investment Banking Group of Jefferies. Mr. Gladbach works in the Houston office and directs project marketing and develops new business at Jefferies Randall & Dewey. Since joining Jefferies Randall & Dewey seven years ago, he has completed many successful transactions involving independents and integrated companies. Mr. Gladbach is a natural gas expert whose knowledge base includes worldwide gas marketing, LNG and gas-to-liquids project development. 	Justin Ward, Toyota Justin Ward is an Engineer with Toyota’s Advanced Technology Vehicles (ATV) department at Toyota Technical Center (TTC), located in Gardena, California. TTC, Toyota’s North American R&D center, has been a division of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing, North America, Inc. (TEMA) since 2006. Mr. Ward is responsible for participating in SAE Fuel Cell and Hybrid Vehicle Standards discussions to reflect Toyota's intention to the SAE Codes & Standards groups; collecting information and research related to Fuel Cell & Hybrid Vehicles (FC & HV), including Safety related activities; and evaluating U.S. Suitability of Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicles and Gasoline Hybrid models. This includes drivability, FC & HV control under various conditions, analyzing test data and issues on FC & HV control, and creating and confirming countermeasures, among others. Extended Biography

	Mr. Steve Andrews, ASPO-USA Steve Andrews has been a Denver-based energy consultant and freelance writer for over 25 years. After interviewing Dr. M. King Hubbert at his home during the 1980s, Steve steadily followed the world oil picture. He began speaking and writing about world oil issues during the 1990s and he co-chaired Denver’s “World Oil Forum—“When Will Global Oil Production Peak?” in 1998. After attending and presenting at previous European ASPO Conferences, he helped establish ASPO-USA in 2005.

	Dr. Roger H Bezdek, Management Information Services, Inc. Dr. Roger H. Bezdek, President, Management Information Services, Inc., has 30 years experience in research and management in the energy, utility, environmental, and regulatory areas, serving in private industry, academia, and the federal government, and is the founder and president of Management Information Services, Inc. – a Washington, D.C.-based economic and energy research firm. 	Mr. Jeffrey J Brown, Independent Petroleum Geologist Jeffrey J. Brown graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Geophysics. He is a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, and he is a licensed Professional Geoscientist in the State of Texas. Since the early Eighties, he has worked as an exploration geoscientist, primarily in Texas, but with some exploration work in Australia and in other basins in the United States, and he has found several commercial oil and gas fields. He is currently managing an aggressive exploration program looking for "leftover" oil and gas fields in West Central Texas. Because of Matt Simmons' early work, and based on work by Kenneth Deffeyes, he has been studying the Peak Oil issue for several years, with particular emphasis on peak exports versus peak production.

	Mr. Alan Drake, c/o ASPO-USA Alan S. Drake, a former accountant, is an engineer, and professional researcher based in New Orleans.

	Mr. Roger Duncan, Austin Energy Roger Duncan is the Deputy General Manager of Austin Energy, the Municipal Utility for Austin, Texas. He manages Strategic Planning, Government Relations, On-site Generation, Demand-side Management, and Green Building for the Utility. Prior to joining Austin Energy, Mr. Duncan was Director of the Environmental Department for the City of Austin and was elected to two terms on the Austin City Council. Mr. Duncan is currently co-chair of the Urban Consortium Sustainability Council and serves on the Board of Directors of the Environmental and Energy Study Institute and the Electric Drive Transportation Association. He also is a member of the Western Governor’s Association Committee on Energy Efficiency and was appointed by the Secretary of Energy to the Federal Energy Management Advisory Council. Business Week magazine recognized Mr. Duncan as one of the “Top 20 Individual Carbon Reducers” in the world.

	Mr. Mark Gaffigan, U.S. Government Accountability Office Mr. Gaffigan is currently serving as the Acting Director for energy issues at the US Government Accountability Office (GAO). The GAO is an independent, nonpartisan agency that works for Congress and the American people by evaluating and auditing the programs and expenditures of the federal government. Since beginning with GAO in 1987, Mr. Gaffigan has reviewed and reported on a variety of federal government programs with an emphasis on budget and program reviews of the US Department of Energy. Recently, Mr. Gaffigan led GAO's February 2007 report to Congress, Crude Oil: Uncertainty about Future Supply Makes it Important to Develop a Strategy for Addressing a Peak and Decline in Oil Production (GAO-07-283) available at www.gao.gov. Prior to GAO, Mr. Gaffigan served on the staff of U.S. Congressman Terry L. Bruce (IL). Mr. Gaffigan earned a BA in economics and a MA in Public Administration from the University of Illinois. He is also a licensed CPA in the state of Maryland.

	Dr. Mariano Gurfinkel, Jackson School of Geosciences/ University of TX, Austin Dr. Gurfinkel serves as Project Manager, CEE at the Bureau of Economic Geology, Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Gurfinkel’s main areas of interest are the development and implementation of technology for unconventional resources, with special focus on producing and handling heavy oil and strategic planning under conditions of uncertainty, with special focus on the identification and valuation of real options. At CEE, Dr. Gurfinkel also serves as the team leader for liquefied natural gas research and outreach. Before joining CEE, Dr. Gurfinkel was responsible for the establishment, with support from the U.S. Department of Energy, of the Center for Energy and Technology (CETA) of the Americas at Florida International University. Prior to CETA, Dr. Gurfinkel led technology development efforts on heavy oil at the research and development center of PDVSA. Dr. Gurfinkel holds 3 patents, Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. degree with honors in mechanical engineering from Universidad Simon Bolivar, Venezuela.

	Mr. Seth Itzkan, Planet-TECH Associates Seth Itzkan is the founder and president of Planet-TECH Associates, a consultancy focusing on sustainable economic development. Mr. Itzkan gradated from Tufts College of Engineering and the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) Masters of Science Program in Studies of the Future. Mr. Itzkan has twenty years experience consulting with private non-profit, municipal, state, and federal agencies on strategies for success in changing times. His work looks at technical, demographic, environmental, and economic trends and opportunities. His clients include The Boston Foundation, The U.S. Census Bureau, The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, and the city of Haverhill, Massachusetts. For the past three years Mr. Itzkan has been consulting with The Boston Foundation in the design, research, and implementation of a prominent feature of their Indicators Project, titled The Hub of Innovation Tool. The Hub of Innovations Tool highlights innovative projects that are improving the quality-of-life for citizens in municipalities. The Boston Foundation's Indicators Project is considered one of the leading examples of municipal data synthesis and distribution. Additionally, Mr. Itzkan is also helping to spearhead the Innovation Valley economic recovery initiative for the Merrimack Valley region of Massachusetts. As part of this initiative, Mr. Itzkan has helped start the Green Chemistry Initiative and is working closely with Dr. John Warner, one of the founders of Green Chemistry. Mr. Itzkan co-authors a monthly column on innovation that is published in a regional newspaper, The Valley Patriot, and is available online at the Innovation Valley site, www.ivalley.org.

	Dr. Pushker A Kharecha, NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies Pushker Kharecha is a postdoctoral research scientist with NASA GISS and the Columbia University Earth Institute. After earning a dual PhD in Earth science and astrobiology from Pennsylvania State University in summer 2005, Dr. Kharecha joined GISS and shifted his focus to the field of climate science, in the interest of conducting research that has direct relevance to environmental policy. Broadly, his research interests include global climate change (both anthropogenic and natural), the global carbon cycle, paleoclimate, and energy and climate. Recently, Dr. Kharecha and Dr. James Hansen (the director of GISS and one of the world's foremost climate scientists) have submitted a paper for peer-reviewed publication in a scientific journal, titled "Implications of 'peak oil' for atmospheric CO2 and climate" (available at http://pubs.giss.nasa.gov). Examining the impact of a range of peak oil scenarios on CO2 emissions, they conclude that peaking of global oil production could have a major effect on 21st-century climate change, depending on the timing and magnitude of the peak, and subsequent energy choices. They argue that a fair yet effective price on carbon emissions should be implemented in order to move energy choices in a direction that averts dangerous climate change. They also outline several key policy recommendations regarding global use of coal and unconventional fossil fuels -- specifically, that coal CO2 /emissions /(not necessarily coal /use/) should be phased out globally within the next few decades, and that unconventional fossil fuels such as methane hydrates, tar sands, and shale oil should not be widely used unless their emissions are also captured and sequestered.

	Mr. Dick Lawrence, ASPO-USA co-founder and Board member Dick Lawrence graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Physics. For most of his professional career, he worked for Digital Equipment designing graphics workstations, and later for Intel developing processors for cellphones and PDAs. In 1986 he read the seminal work Beyond Oil by Gever, Kaufmann et al, which was his introduction to the Hubbert curve, the reality of depletion, and a wake-up call to a nation already addicted to oil. By 2001 the Internet and energy-related web sites made it possible to network with others around the world having similar concerns about our global industrialized civilization and its appetite for fossil fuels. He attended annual ASPO meetings in Uppsala, Paris, Berlin, Lisbon and this year in Pisa, Italy. In 2005 Dick co-founded ASPO-USA with 4 others from Colorado, Texas, and California, and their first national conference took place in November that year. He has developed a proposal for dynamic-systems modeling of world energy flow, for modeling future energy scenarios, which he will present in Boston. Extended Biography

	Dr. Vincent Matthews, Colorado Geological Survey VINCE MATTHEWS became State Geologist and Director of the Colorado Geological Survey in 2004. He received Bachelors and Masters degrees in Geology from the University of Georgia, a Ph. D. from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program. 	Dr. Euan Mearns, The Oil Drum Euan Mearns has BSc and PhD degrees in geology from the University of Aberdeen. Following 8 years in Norway as a researcher at the University of Oslo, he returned to Aberdeen in 1991 where he set up a geochemical analysis and consulting firm serving the international oil industry. For the last year he has been writing technical articles for The Oil Drum Europe.

	Mr. Thomas A Petrie, Merrill Lynch Thomas A. Petrie was a co-founder of Petrie Parkman & Co., a Denver and Houston based energy investment banking firm that merged with Merrill Lynch in December 2006. With this transaction, he became a Vice Chairman of Merrill Lynch and a member of its Executive Client Coverage Group. He was a former Managing Director and Senior Oil Analyst of The First Boston Corporation. Extended Biography

	Mr. Scott Pugh, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Scott Pugh, a former nuclear submarine commanding officer who also served as dean of mathematics and science at the US Naval Academy. Since retiring from the Navy as a Captain in 2005 he has worked with Amory Lovins as Rocky Mountain Institute's Military Principal to implement the strategies outlined in "Winning the Oil Endgame" and serves on the Defense Science Board DoD Energy Strategy Task Force. He lives in Annapolis, Maryland.

	Dr. David Rutledge, California Institute of Technology Professor Rutledge is the Chair of the Division of Engineering and Applied Science at Caltech and Tomiyasu Professor of Electrical Engineering. His research has been in microwave engineering, and he is the author of the textbook Electronics of Radio, published by Cambridge University Press, and the popular microwave computer-aided-design package Puff. He is a winner of the Teaching Award of the Associated Students at Caltech, and a Fellow of the IEEE.

	Ms. Jennifer Sarnecki, Southern California Association of Governments Ms. Sarnecki is a Senior Planner in the Environmental Division of the Southern California Association of Governments. She serves as the lead staff for all of SCAG's energy planning efforts, which include developing the Regional Comprehensive Plan's Energy Chapter, staffing SCAG's Energy Working Group, coordinating the energy efficiency partnership with Southern California Edison , and positioning SCAG to be successful in its approach to AB 32 (California Global Warming Solutions Act).

	Mr. David Strahan, John Murray Publishers David Strahan, award-winning investigative journalist, documentary film-maker and author of the 2007 book “The Last Oil Shock – A Survival Guide to the Imminent Extinction of Petroleum Man”. Extended Biography

	Mr. Tom Whipple, ASPO-USA Tom Whipple publishes a daily newsletter on energy under the ASPO-USA banner that is read and quoted widely throughout the energy-aware world. He also writes a weekly “Peak Oil” column for the (Virginia) Falls Church News-Press which is routinely circulated through web portals and links onto some of the world’s most popular sites discussing the subject. Whipple, a North Arlington (VA) resident, is a former career CIA analyst whose thoroughly-documented and prescient insights into the “peak oil” phenomenon published in the News-Press every week are in the forefront of this global dialogue. 	Dr. Kyriacos Zygourakis, Rice University Kyriacos Zygourakis is the A.J. Hartsook Professor of Chemical Engineering and Chair of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of Rice University. He received his B.S. from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece and his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. His research interests span several important areas of bioengineering and chemical reaction engineering. Currently, his group is focusing on cellular engineering, the development of multi-scale models that describe the growth of heterogeneous cell populations, and the sustainable production of chemicals and fuels from biomass. Prof. Zygourakis has published more than 110 articles in refereed journals on coal utilization, pollution control reactors and cellular engineering, has contributed several book chapters, has directed research programs funded by NSF, DOE, NIH, and NASA, has served on the Texas Council on Environmental Technology and has chaired several committees of professional organizations.
